6.3  Email from Grant Grosland

The following email was received from Grant Grosland.

  1. Have we written the County or met with the County about resurfacing the road between West and South villages. I am sure the County would be interested in cost sharing.
  2. Is it possible to make a agreement with the County to remove snow and sand for ice. For a number of years our stretch of road has not been maintained when the other roads around the lake are done until someone calls for service.
  3. We have had some councilors from the County bad mouthing the SV Villages for not contributing to the various facilitates and support groups in the area, it would be great if the SVWB was proactive and not just reactive. Those of us that live here may not feel like second class citizens if this was to happen.
  4. Some of the things we should be supporting are:

    – Multi-plex

    – Library

    – Swimming Pool

    – Family Community and Social Services

    – Waste Management & Sewage

    – Doctor Recruitment and Retention

    – Hospital

I realize that we do support some of the above items, but only if asked, and I do thank you for the little attention. I have heard that some SV’s and Counties do have an agreement that covers support of the above based on a per lot assessment. The Provincial Gov’t. looks very favorably on joint support efforts’

  1. Consider a minimum tax per lot. The cost of maintaining roads and services are required even if the lot is not occupied.
  2. Maybe there should be a charge per lineal. meter of property exposed to the road. Persons with large tracts of land are benefiting as small rural holdings and could benefit greatly in the future if subdivided.

Thank you, in advance, for your attention.

 Grant Grosland

Council discussed Mr. Grosland’s concerns. It was agreed Keith Wilson will reply by email.
