6.0 Business Arising

61.    MGA

A virtual Zoom meeting of the IDP (Inter-municipal Development Plan) committee with representatives from Athabasca County, South and West Villages as well as Municipal Planning Services was held on August 4th. Due to technical difficulties a follow up meeting was held on August 7th, followed by a meeting of members from South and West Baptiste. South and West Baptiste want the IDP to include one mile radius around all of Baptiste Lake, the County wants 0.5 miles around the participating Summer Villages only. No agreement was reached with Athabasca County. Members of South and West Baptiste asked Municipal Planning Services to proceed to the Municipal Government board for a resolution.

6.2    MAP

MAP (Municipal Accountability Program) was completed by Municipal Affairs and the Administrator. A good session was had. A list of additions and/or changes was received by the Village with completion of same due within one year.

6.3   Roads

MOTION: That the quote from David Gray Enterprises to complete work on Baptiste Dr. be accepted. $9,500 creek by #1121, $12,660 repair apron by mailbo  xes, $6,300 by #1119 repair culvert and build berm higher, #810 to #815 patching.

6.4   Speeding on Village Roads

A concern was received from a Village resident regarding speeding on the service roads. Signs “Children at Play’ will be posted at each entrance to the service roads. A quote will be requested from David Gray Enterprises to install.

6.8 2021 Budget

MOTION: That the interim budget for the Summer Village of West Baptiste be accepted as presented.

   6.9   CAO Review

The annually CAO review was completed.

6.10   Wildfire Risk Assessment

The Village was approached to apply for a FRIAA grant with two or three other Summer Villages. Council agreed providing there is no cost to the Village.

6.11 Trees on reserves

MOTION: That the Summer Village of West Baptiste accepts a quote from NGW Tree Service in the amount of $2,025 for the removal of 15 trees from Village reserves.

    6.12  Councillors’ Reports

Mayor Keith Wilson reported on the cleaning of the Baptiste Creek outlet. The outlet has been cleaned and widen from 3 feet to 15 feet to allow flow of water out of Baptiste Lake. Hopefully this will reduce flooding. The Summer Villages of South, Sunset and West will absorb the cost.
