Call to order
Mayor Keith Wilson called the meeting to order at 10:15am.
That the Summer Village of West Baptiste Council is meeting on Treat 6 Registered Lands.

Remunerations for Council
MOTION: That the Summer Village of West Baptiste approve remuneration
Retroactive to January 1, 2024 for members of Council, as follows:
Council Remuneration and Expenses Reimbursement Policy 1 2024
Purpose
To ensure Council Members receive fair compensation for their time and expenses incurred while on Summer Village business.
Policy Statement
Council Members shall be provided with remuneration for their time and reimbursement for the
expenses incurred in fulfilling their duties on Village Council as shown in Schedule “A”
Schedule “A” shall be reviewed at least every 2 years.
Yearly honorarium covers
Regular and Special Council Meetings.
Preparation, including reading and research, for all meetings.
Informal meetings with the Chief Administrative Officer, or others to discuss Village business.
Meetings —Meeting rates cover:
i. Attending conferences, conventions, workshops, seminars and symposiums as approved
by Council.
ii. Attending Joint Council meetings.
iii. Attending Committee, Board, and Commission meetings as appointed and approved by
Council.
Iv. Other meetings as approved by Council.
-As shown in Schedule “A”
Communications —shall be provided with a monthly communications allowance to cover
expenses related to personal communications (telephone, internet, cellular phone,.printer costs, etc.) as shown in Schedule ”A”. Receipts not required.
Mileage — the per kilometre rate provided by the Canada Revenue Agency for Alberta as shown in Schedule “A”
Councillors will be reimbursed for other expenses incurred on behalf of the Village, not listed above, including meals. Receipts required.
SVWB Expense claim form shall be used.

Honorarium — $450 per year
Meetings — Meeting Rates
a. $75.00 for meetings totalling up to four (4) hours a day
b. $150.00 per full day meetings totalling up to eight (8) hours a day
3. Mileage – the per kilometre rate of $.61 per kilometre.
4. Communications Allowance —$110/month

MOTION: That the Summer Village of West Baptiste CAO salary be $21,000. per year retroactive to January 1. 2024.

Baptiste and Island Lake Security
Discussion took place. It was agreed not to participate at this time.
Village Brochure
The revised Village Brochure will be included with the newsletter mailing.
Community Police Officers Services
A draft agreement was review by Council. It was decided not to participate at this time.
Joint Village Councillor Meeting May 11th
The Joint meeting of the Summer Villages will be held May 11, 2024 at the Baptiste Fire Hall hosted by the Summer Village of Whispering hills.
Councillors’ Reports
2025 is election year. The members of the present Council will not be running for re-election. Residents are asked to consider running.
There were reports of two break-ins over the winter. .
Keith Wilson has been working on updates to the Village website.
